Funding

The LAM is a 100% volunteer-run publication that publishes annually. We depend on community donations to help produce the magazine and pay our contributors.

We use the funds we raise to keep the magazine up and running. This includes our website, domain, and software subscriptions. Our editors aren't afraid to hit the pavement — we funded Issue I through community Create-A-Thons, a Used Book Sale, and a Garage Sale. We love the opportunity to talk to members of our community about the incredible work our authors and artists have done!

Once an issue is published, we withhold the funds required to sustain the magazine for the following calendar year (approximately $300CAD in 2025). The rest of the funds raised are split equally between our contributors. In 2025, this meant we were able to pay each of our 19 contributors $5CAD.

Your contribution helps us continue to pay our authors and artists as much as possible for their work, something that is extremely rare for fledgling publications. If you would like to support The LAM, you may do so in our tip jar below.
